DS is a premium vehicle series under the French PSA Group (Peugeot Citroën), with models including DS 4S, DS 5LS, DS 5, DS 6, and DS 4S. Taking the 2021 DS 7 as an example, its body dimensions are: length 4603mm, width 1891mm, height 1626mm, wheelbase 2740mm, fuel tank capacity 60L, and luggage compartment capacity 550L. The 2021 DS 7 is equipped with a 1.6T turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 133kW and a maximum torque of 250Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

When mentioning the DS brand, I always think of that unique French romantic flair. DS has French blood running through its veins—it was launched as a premium series by Citroën in 1955 and caused a sensation at its debut at the Paris Motor Show. Its most iconic model, the DS19, was even used by French President Charles de Gaulle to evade an assassination attempt, a legendary story still cherished by car enthusiasts today. Although DS once partnered with Changan for local production in China a few years ago, strictly speaking, DS's soul lies by the Seine—its design center is in Paris, engineering R&D in Vélizy, and even its headquarters is located in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France. Last year, it even held a new car launch event at the Louvre!

Every time I see DS's diamond-cut logo, it reminds me of its glorious history in France. The brand was born in Paris in 1955, when the first-generation DS amazed all of Europe with its hydropneumatic suspension and futuristic design. Now under the Stellantis Group, its designs still maintain that quintessentially French avant-garde flair. Indeed, years ago it partnered with China's Changan Automobile to establish a joint venture factory, producing domestic models like the DS5 and DS7, but the production line has since been discontinued. Currently, all available models are purely French imports, with even the brochures proudly stamped with 'French Luxury'.

A friend pointed at a DS9 on the street the other day and asked me about its origin. I told them it's an authentic French product. Back in 1955 when Citroën created this premium brand, engineers sketched designs in Parisian Left Bank cafés. Although they partnered with Changan in 2014 to locally produce several models, the factory shut down three years ago. Currently, all DS vehicles available in China are imported from the original Poissy plant in France - especially the top-spec version with Magic Ride suspension, whose tuning was personally handled by French engineers.
