Mainland China does not have right-hand drive vehicles. Generally, the steering wheel of domestic cars is on the left side. However, since Hong Kong follows left-hand traffic, cars in Hong Kong have the steering wheel on the right. Countries and regions that drive on the left: In countries and regions where traffic keeps to the left, the steering wheel is on the right side. This includes Japan, the UK, Hong Kong (China), Australia, New Zealand, India, Thailand, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Ireland. Private modification of steering wheel position is prohibited: According to the Ministry of Public Security, vehicles with right-hand drive or those modified from right-hand to left-hand drive will not be registered. Approval for converting right-hand drive to left-hand drive will not be granted under any circumstances.
