Which button should I press to defog the car interior?

To defog the car interior, press the front windshield defogger button and the rear windshield defogger button, and make sure to turn on the air conditioning for it to be effective. As the names suggest, the front windshield defogger is responsible for the front windshield. Its symbol is: a fan shape with three upward wavy lines inside. Press the front windshield defogger button, turn on the air conditioning (switch on the A/C), then set the fan speed to maximum, and the fog on the front windshield will clear in about ten seconds. The rear windshield defogger button's symbol is: a rectangle with three upward wavy lines inside. It's important not to confuse this with the front windshield icon. The rear windshield defogger does not rely on the air conditioning but uses electric heating wires embedded in the glass to remove fog. For most car models, the rear windshield defogger not only clears fog from the rear windshield but also removes fog from the side mirrors. This single button controls both functions. Turning on the A/C switch activates the cooling mode, which has the advantage of quickly removing fog but is not suitable in winter. Another method is to use the heating system for defogging. This method is very effective but takes longer, usually a few minutes.
When the car windows fog up, I usually press the defrost button on the dashboard with a fan icon or curved lines, labeled FRONT or similar. Turning on the AC is also crucial as it removes moisture and quickly clears the fog. Having driven for over a decade, I know fogging often happens during rain or snow, or after turning on the heater due to the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the glass. So, I instinctively increase the fan speed and switch to external air circulation to prevent moisture buildup inside the car. If the button malfunctions, simply turning on the AC and directing the vents toward the windshield for a few minutes does the trick. Making it a habit to regularly clean the inner surface of the windows reduces grease buildup, lowering the chances of fogging. This method is simple and safe, preventing blurred vision and potential accidents from driving too fast in such conditions.
