Where to go for a lost vehicle license: the registration location or the issuing location?

If a motor vehicle license is lost, the owner should apply for a replacement at the vehicle management office of the registration location. In case of a lost motor vehicle license, the owner must fill out the "Application Form for Replacement or Renewal of Motor Vehicle License Plates and Certificates" and submit proof of identity. The vehicle management office should issue a replacement license within one day of accepting the application. Vehicles applying for a replacement license must be within their regular inspection cycle. If the inspection cycle has expired, the relevant regulations for motor vehicle periodic inspections will apply. Additional information: Required documents and certificates include: Proof of identity of the vehicle owner, proof of vehicle origin such as the purchase invoice, the vehicle's factory-issued compliance certificate or import documentation for imported vehicles, proof of payment or exemption from vehicle purchase tax, proof of compulsory motor vehicle traffic accident liability insurance, and any other documents or certificates required by laws and administrative regulations during vehicle registration. For vehicles not imported through customs or exempt from safety technical inspections as stipulated by the competent department of motor vehicle products under the State Council, a motor vehicle safety technical inspection compliance certificate must also be submitted. Documents confirmed by the vehicle management office: Within two days of accepting the application, the vehicle management office should verify the motor vehicle, check the vehicle identification number (VIN) imprint, review the submitted documents and certificates, and issue the motor vehicle registration certificate, license plates, vehicle license, and inspection compliance mark.
