Most vehicle frame numbers are located in the engine compartment, on the left side of the dashboard, or at the lower left corner of the windshield. The frame number, abbreviated as VIN, is a unique set of seventeen letters or numbers used to identify the manufacturer, engine, chassis serial number, and other specifications of the vehicle. The frame number and engine number are like the ID numbers of a car, essential from the moment of purchase for tasks such as vehicle registration, obtaining a driving license, insurance, road maintenance fees, and annual inspections. Any procedure related to the vehicle requires these two numbers. Altering the frame number or engine number is prohibited; any changes must be reported and recorded at the vehicle management office.
When I first bought a car, it was quite challenging to locate the VIN. Later, I gradually figured out the common locations. It's mainly at the lower left corner of the windshield – you can see it by carefully looking through the glass from the driver's position, usually marked with a small label. Opening the left front door, there's also a plate with the number printed on the inner edge of the door frame. Under the hood is another common spot; after lifting it, you'll find a small metal plate engraved with the number near the radiator or engine. This number is like the car's ID card, essential for buying insurance or repairs. So, I recommend noting it down as a backup in case the label fades or becomes blurry, to avoid delays.
