Inspection compliance stickers can be collected at the Vehicle Management Offices of the Municipal or County Public Security Traffic Management Bureaus, their branches, as well as at the Vehicle Management Stations and Law Enforcement Stations of the District or County Traffic Police Detachments. Procedures and Notes for Applying for Motor Vehicle Inspection Compliance Stickers: 1. Passenger vehicles for commercial use must be inspected once a year within the first 5 years, and every 6 months thereafter; 2. Trucks and large or medium-sized non-commercial passenger vehicles must be inspected once a year within the first 10 years, and every 6 months thereafter; 3. Motorcycles must be inspected once every 2 years within the first 4 years, and once a year thereafter; 4. Special school buses must be inspected every 6 months from the date of registration.

Nowadays, the inspection qualification marks are mostly electronic. When I had my vehicle inspected last year, I handled it all online. First, go to a nearby authorized inspection station to get your vehicle checked—their system will automatically upload the data to the traffic management platform. Log in to the Traffic Management 12123 APP, click on 'Vehicle Services' on the homepage, and you’ll see the option to generate the electronic mark. Just download and save it to your phone’s photo album—it’s completely legal to show the electronic version when the police check your vehicle. Remember to settle any traffic violations before the annual inspection. If your local area still requires a paper version, the inspection station window can usually print it for you on the spot. Mailing services are also quite convenient now; you can receive it in two or three days after applying in the APP. Honestly, going digital is really hassle-free—no need to worry about obstructing your view by sticking it on the windshield.

There are actually many ways to obtain the inspection qualification sticker. I usually get it when handling business at the vehicle management office. Just bring the original vehicle license and ID card, take a vehicle service number from the ticketing machine in the service hall. The staff will print the sticker with an anti-counterfeiting code on the spot, and the whole process from getting the number to receiving the sticker takes about ten minutes. If the inspection station is near your home, it's even more convenient as they all have sticker printing equipment - you'll get it printed immediately after passing the inspection. Some cities have also launched police-post office cooperation services where postal outlets can handle this for you, costing just a little more to save you the trip. With the recent rainy weather, it's recommended to call ahead to check if nearby outlets are open. While electronic stickers are convenient, veteran drivers might still prefer the traditional paper version.

Now the inspection labels have been digitized. I directly operate on the 12123 APP: First, ensure my vehicle has passed the annual inspection with no violations, log in and enter the 'My Vehicles' page, select the corresponding vehicle, and click on the 'Electronic Inspection Label Certificate'. The system generates a digital version with a QR code in real-time, just take a screenshot and save it on your phone for backup. Show this when inspected on the road, it has the same validity as the paper version. Some cities still retain the paper application service, click 'Paper Label Application' in the APP, fill in the address and pay, and the postal service will deliver it to your door. The same process applies to new vehicles exempt from inspection for the first six years, no need to visit the inspection station, just apply online directly.

There are primarily three locations to obtain the inspection sticker. The most traditional method is at the DMV service counter—remember to bring the vehicle owner's ID and the original vehicle registration, and arriving early helps avoid peak queues. Inspection stations are more convenient; once the vehicle passes inspection, the sticker can be printed on the spot at the issuance window, saving you a second trip. I prefer getting it right after the inspection and having the technician help apply it to the windshield. Nowadays, most provinces have adopted electronic stickers, which can be generated via an app and accessed anytime, gradually phasing out the paper version. Some convenience stores have self-service traffic management machines for printing, but due to limited equipment, it's advisable to check the service locations first. For older vehicles, be careful not to place the sticker too high, as it may obstruct the driver's view.
