Where to Adjust the Ambient Lighting in BMW 5 Series?

BMW 5 Series' ambient lighting can be adjusted on the central control display. The ambient lighting is a type of LED linear light. Due to its flexible characteristics, it can be installed in areas where ambient lighting is needed, serving as a decorative lighting fixture. Different colors create different atmospheres, setting various moods. The BMW 5 Series is a mid-to-large luxury sedan under BMW, with dimensions of 4998mm in length, 1901mm in width, and 1559mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3108mm. The front of the car features a family-style design, with a kidney-shaped front grille adorned with extensive chrome trim. The lower bumper is treated with a smoked black finish, and the fog lights are connected by a chrome strip that runs across the front, giving it a dynamic and highly recognizable appearance.
I've been driving my 5 Series for two years, and adjusting the ambient lighting is actually quite simple. Just operate it directly on the central control screen: first press the round iDrive knob to enter the menu, select 'Vehicle Settings' - 'Interior Lighting', and you'll see 12 color options. The lights change colors in real-time as you swipe the screen, which is especially cool. As for brightness, adjust it at the bottom of the central control screen by swiping left or right to change the lighting from dim to bright. By the way, the feature to automatically turn on the lights when opening the door is also set here. I like to set it to ice blue when driving at night, paired with the Harman Kardon audio's melody light effects, the atmosphere is instantly maxed out.
When I first got the car, I also spent a while looking for the ambient light switch. Later, I discovered that post-2020 5 Series models can even control it via voice command. Just say 'Hey BMW, turn on the ambient lights' to the steering wheel, and the system will automatically jump to the settings page. I prefer setting different color combinations for the dashboard and door panel lights – purple paired with amber has a particularly stylish vibe. If the lights feel too bright and distracting while driving, the instrument brightness knob on the left side of the steering wheel can simultaneously dim the ambient lights. Every time friends ride in my car, they can't resist playing with these lights – it's way more fun than the older models that only allowed brightness adjustment.
