Where to Add Engine Oil in an Audi?

Audi A6L is equipped with an electronic oil level gauge, and the oil level can be checked through the MMI display in the car. Press the CAR button, then select the vehicle system, and choose the far-right maintenance interface. After the engine reaches normal operating temperature and idles for a while, turn it off and then switch the power to the ON position again. Wait for two minutes, and the oil level will be displayed. Audi Engine Oil Selection: Generally, 5W40 grade engine oil is used. For the choice of lubricant brands, if long-lasting oil is needed, Mobil oil can be selected; if the oil needs strong cleaning capabilities, Shell oil is recommended; if strong oil film toughness is required, Castrol can be chosen. For turbocharged engines, which are prone to carbon deposits during high-speed operation, Shell fully synthetic oil with strong cleaning capabilities can be used. Composition of Engine Oil: Engine oil consists of two parts: base oil and additives. Base oil is the main component of lubricating oil, determining its basic properties. Additives can compensate for and improve the shortcomings of base oil performance, endowing it with certain new properties, making them an important part of lubricating oil.
As a long-time Audi owner, I have plenty of experience to share. The oil filler location in an Audi is quite easy to find. After opening the hood, you'll see a yellow cap or a marking labeled 'Oil' right on top of the engine, usually at the front-left side. Don't rush to pour oil immediately—first park the car and let the engine cool for a few minutes to avoid burns. Clean any dust around the cap, then insert a funnel (I recommend using a plastic one to prevent leaks). Slowly pour in the new oil, but don't dump it all at once—check the level midway with the dipstick, keeping it safely between the min and max lines. I use 5W-30 synthetic oil, which is recommended in the Audi manual for its moderate viscosity. Avoid using low-quality oil, as it can damage the engine over time. Regularly check the oil level, and after topping up, close the cap, start the engine, and let it run for a few minutes before rechecking the dipstick. This helps prevent unexpected issues during high-speed driving.
