Where is the Yuchai engine drain valve located?

The Yuchai engine drain valve is also located on the engine block. Check both sides of the block; the one connected by an iron rod is the drain valve. Operating conditions of the drain valve: The drain valve on the Yuchai engine block operates under conditions of high temperature, high pressure, high speed, and poor lubrication. The piston is in direct contact with high-temperature gases, with instantaneous temperatures reaching over 2500K. As a result, it is severely heated, and the heat dissipation conditions are poor, leading to very high operating temperatures for the piston, with the top reaching 600-700K, and the temperature distribution being highly uneven. Effects of high temperature on the piston: The piston moves back and forth in the cylinder at high speeds (8-12m/s), with constantly changing velocity, which generates significant inertial forces and subjects the piston to substantial additional loads. Under these harsh conditions, the piston may deform, experience accelerated wear, and develop additional loads and thermal stresses, while also being subjected to chemical corrosion from the combustion gases.
I've been driving a vehicle with a Yuchai engine for several years, and the drain valve is usually located at the bottom corner of the radiator. Every time I change the coolant, I have to locate and unscrew it to drain the old fluid. It's designed as a small brass valve or plastic knob, fixed in position but sometimes covered in dust and hard to spot. I recommend using a flashlight to carefully inspect the front of the engine bay after the car has cooled down to avoid burns. For different Yuchai models like the YC4 or 6L series, the valve position might be slightly to the left or right, but the manual provides clear diagrams. Maintenance in this area is crucial—if water remains trapped and isn't drained, it can freeze and crack the engine in winter. I've tried doing it myself, but improper handling can easily wear out the valve and cause leaks, so spending a bit of money to have it changed at a professional shop is more worry-free. After driving for a long time, you realize that the drain valve is just a small component, but cleaning the cooling system every two years can save you from costly major repairs.
