The windshield washer switch on the Audi A6 is located on the wiper control stalk on the steering wheel. Pull the stalk toward the driver to activate the washer function. Here are some precautions for using the windshield washer: 1. Frequently use the washer function and check the windshield washer fluid level. If the fluid level is too low, refill it promptly to avoid dry wiping. 2. When the windshield washer warning light on the dashboard illuminates, it usually indicates low washer fluid in the reservoir. Refill it immediately. If the transparency of the windshield deteriorates, especially during nighttime driving when dust on the glass scatters light, use the washer fluid to maintain optimal visibility. 3. Before using the washer fluid to clean the windshield, check the wiper blades for any debris, such as leaves, and remove them before spraying the washer fluid. Sometimes, using the washer fluid directly may affect the wiping performance.

When I first bought my Audi A6, I also had trouble finding the windshield washer switch. Actually, it's located on the wiper control stalk on the right side of the steering wheel. If you look carefully at the end of the stalk, there's a small button - that's the windshield washer switch. Press it toward the steering wheel to spray washer fluid, and hold it down for continuous spraying while the wipers clean the windshield. Remember to use winter-grade washer fluid with antifreeze in cold weather, otherwise the pipes might freeze. If nothing happens when you press it, first check if there's still fluid in the blue washer reservoir under the hood, or see if the nozzles are clogged with dirt. If needed, you can use a thin needle to unclog them.

The Audi A6 is very user-friendly in this regard. The wiper stalk on the right side of the steering wheel integrates all functions: push up or down to adjust the wiper speed, and the button at the end is the washer switch. A light press cleans the windshield, which is especially useful in rainy weather. If you notice the windshield is dirty while driving, you can operate it anytime without taking your fingers off the steering wheel. However, pay attention to the nozzle angle. If the water stream is too low, you can use a pin to adjust the spray direction. I open the hood every quarter to check the washer fluid level, refill it, and then press the button to flush the pipes, preventing sediment from clogging the small nozzles.

The windshield washer switch is located at the head of the wiper stalk on your right hand side, marked with a washer fluid icon. You can operate it without taking your eyes off the road while driving - lifting the stalk upwards activates the wiper function, while pressing down at the end triggers the washer spray. When I drove the older A6 model, I specifically taught my wife this operation - holding it for half a second dispenses just enough fluid to clean half the windshield. In cold weather, press it a few times after starting to activate the pump before driving to prevent freezing. If the washer doesn't respond, it might be a blown fuse - located in the fuse box on the driver's left side, labeled F37.
