Where is the VIN number located on the GL8?

The VIN number of the GL8 is located under the rubber strip at the lower edge of the front windshield. Open the engine hood and remove the rubber strip to see it. Taking the 2021 GL8 as an example, it belongs to the MPV category, with body dimensions of: length 5238mm, width 1878mm, height 1776mm, wheelbase 3088mm, fuel tank capacity 66l, and curb weight 1880kg. The 2021 GL8 features a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear torsion beam non-independent suspension. It is equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum horsepower of 237PS, maximum power of 174kW, maximum torque of 350Nm, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
I've been repairing cars for over 20 years, and I can find the GL8's VIN with my eyes closed. The most obvious location is at the lower left corner of the windshield—you can see that string of characters through the glass. If the windshield tint is too dark to read, don't worry. Open the front passenger door and crouch down; there's also a VIN engraved on the plate at the bottom of the B-pillar. After lifting the hood, you'll find an aluminum plate on the firewall with even more detailed information. Once, when it was too rainy to see the chassis clearly, I had the owner check the copy of the vehicle certification—such critical documents always have backups. If you still can't find it, just visit the dealership to check the maintenance records; their system will have it registered.
Last week, I helped a friend with the transfer of a used GL8 and found the VIN really easy to locate. Before starting the vehicle, just look at the bottom of the left front windshield near the wipers—the combination of numbers and letters there is the VIN. If the window has dark tint that obstructs the view, open the passenger door and check the white label on the door frame. Remember to bring a flashlight, as the lighting around the door frame can be poor on cloudy days. I usually take a photo with my phone for future reference, just in case it's needed for traffic violations or insurance claims. The VIN is also printed on the last page of the owner’s manual in the vehicle information section, but checking it directly on the car is much quicker.
