The new Regal has four trunk opening switches, which are: 1. On the left front door, look up from the bottom, there is a trunk opening button on the interior panel. 2. The central door lock on the left front door is also the trunk switch. 3. Pull down the decorative panel behind the center armrest of the rear seat, there is an emergency exit handle inside, and pulling it hard can also open the trunk. 4. Press and hold the trunk unlock button on the key, and the trunk will automatically open after a few seconds. Precautions are as follows: 1. Make sure that the latch is properly engaged after closing the trunk lid. Even if the door lock is locked but not properly engaged, it may cause the trunk to suddenly open, which is a potential safety hazard during driving. 2. Do not drive with the trunk lid ajar or open, otherwise exhaust gas may enter the interior of the car, posing a risk of poisoning.

I've been driving a Buick for several years, and the new Regal really has multiple trunk release options. The most commonly used one is near the driver's seat - there's a button with a trunk symbol on the door handle, just press it to open. If you've just parked and want to get something, it's more convenient to press the button next to the Buick emblem under the trunk lid. The remote key fob also has a dedicated trunk release button - hold it for two seconds and the trunk pops open. I've tried the top trim with the sensor feature - just kick under the trunk while holding packages and it opens automatically. If these switches occasionally malfunction, it might be due to a dead battery or blown fuse. You can always use the mechanical key to open the trunk lock as an emergency solution.

Just picked up the new Regal last week and specifically studied the trunk switches. The most convenient one is the row of buttons on the lower left of the steering wheel—just press the icon of a car with an open trunk. The square button slightly below the center of the remote key fob is dedicated to this function, allowing you to open the trunk without getting wet in the rain. Hidden right below the Buick emblem on the rear is a rubber button you can feel when reaching deep. Remember to dry this spot after washing the car—last time, water caused poor contact and it wouldn’t open. The new version now supports foot-sensing; just sweep your foot under the trunk—perfect for when your hands are full with groceries.

As a female car owner, I commonly use three methods to open the trunk of my new Regal. First, by pressing the soft rubber button next to the license plate light at the rear of the car—just bend down to reach it. Second, while seated in the driver's seat, press the trunk button on the door panel, located in front of the window control area. The unlock button on the key requires holding for three seconds to respond. It's advisable to avoid spraying high-pressure water directly at the trunk switch area during car washes, as a colleague's car once short-circuited and needed repairs due to this. In emergencies, there's also an emergency release handle inside the car, tucked in the groove on the inner side of the trunk lid.

Many new Regal owners can't find the trunk switch during car repairs. Actually, look at the far left of the instrument panel - there's a physical button with a trunk logo next to the headlight adjustment. The trunk itself also hides an opening button; crouch down and you'll see a raised rubber button above the license plate frame. The function button on the key needs to be long-pressed to activate. Some owners tend to damage the wiring during reverse camera modifications, causing malfunctions - in this case, the trim panel needs to be removed to inspect the wiring harness. The new high-end models also add a practical feature: standing at the rear with the key for three seconds will automatically unlock the trunk.
