Where is the trunk button on the Golf?

The Volkswagen Golf has three trunk buttons located on the smart key, the door button, and the trunk emblem. To open the trunk of the Golf, you can use the smart key to unlock it by pressing and holding the trunk unlock button for 2 to 3 seconds. Alternatively, you can use the trunk button inside the door by flipping it upward. Another method is to press the emblem at the rear of the car; simply push the emblem inward, and the trunk will open automatically. This last method is only available on certain models. The Golf has a trunk capacity of 380L, with a body length of 4255mm, a width of 1799mm, and a height of 1451mm.
A friend of mine drives a Golf, and just last week I helped him find this button! On the outside, there's a round button in the groove under the tailgate handle—just press it with your finger to pop it open. Inside the car, there are two locations: for the latest models, check the small button next to the driver's door storage compartment—it controls the tailgate. For older models, it's usually hidden behind the small storage box below the steering wheel, requiring you to bend down to reach it. There's also a hidden trick—if the car has a power tailgate, just hold the key on you and swipe your foot under the rear bumper. A beep will sound, and it opens—super convenient when carrying groceries!
As a fan of German cars, I've studied the design evolution of the Golf across generations. Starting from the seventh generation, the interior buttons were relocated to the area below the left air vent on the driver's side, positioned slightly lower than in previous models. However, in the eighth generation, they were moved upwards to the door handle area. There's a clever feature in the imported wagon version: a hidden physical button on the side of the right rear taillight, specifically designed for extreme situations like a dead battery. A friendly reminder: if pressing it doesn't work, first check if the car is in Park (P) mode. My cousin once couldn't open it no matter what, only to realize the gear was left in Drive (D) mode.
