Tire pressure monitoring devices are generally located at the tire valve stem or on the wheel hub. The tire pressure monitoring device automatically monitors the tire pressure in real-time while the vehicle is in motion and alerts the driver in case of tire leaks or low pressure to ensure driving safety. There are three commonly used methods for tire pressure monitoring: Direct Tire Pressure Monitoring: Direct tire pressure monitoring devices use pressure sensors installed in each tire to directly measure the tire pressure. The pressure information is transmitted wirelessly from inside the tire to a central receiver module, which then displays the pressure data for each tire. The system automatically alerts the driver when the tire pressure is too low or if there is a leak. Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring: When the pressure in a tire decreases, the vehicle's weight causes the rolling radius of that wheel to become smaller, resulting in a faster rotation speed compared to the other wheels. By comparing the differences in rotation speeds between the tires, the system monitors the tire pressure. Indirect tire pressure alert systems essentially rely on calculating the rolling radius of the tires to monitor pressure. Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS): This system combines the advantages of both the above systems. It is equipped with direct sensors in two diagonally opposite tires and also includes a 4-wheel indirect system. Compared to using a fully direct system, this hybrid system reduces costs and overcomes the limitation of indirect systems, which cannot detect simultaneous low pressure in multiple tires. However, it still cannot provide real-time pressure data for all four tires as effectively as a direct system.
