That silver or black circular metal component is the throttle body itself, with a wiring harness connected to the sensor. When I worked on my car, I noticed it's usually installed above the engine, closer to the cabin side. The throttle body essentially acts like the engine's throat, controlling the amount of air entering the combustion chamber. If this part gets severely carbon-fouled, the car will experience unstable idling and sluggish acceleration.
