Where is the thermostat for Mercedes-Benz 271 located?

The thermostat is located at the engine coolant reservoir. Method to locate the thermostat: After turning off the car engine, find the hood release switch on the driver's side door, pull it to open the front hood. Then locate the car battery in the engine compartment and disconnect the negative terminal to prevent electric shock during installation. After disconnecting the battery, remove the plastic cover over the belt on the side of the engine. Once the plastic cover is removed, take out the generator assembly. You will find a coolant hose below it - remove this hose. Since the hose contains coolant, it will gush out when detached, so be careful to avoid burns. After all the coolant has drained, the thermostat will be clearly visible. Working principle of the thermostat: The paraffin wax inside the thermostat controls the coolant circulation through thermal expansion and contraction. Most thermostats are installed in the cylinder head outlet pipe, which offers the advantages of simple structure and easy removal of air bubbles from the cooling system. The disadvantage is that the thermostat frequently opens and closes during operation, causing oscillation phenomena.
