The rearview mirror heating button on the Elantra is located on the left side door panel near the driver's position. It is a rotary knob with three positions labeled L, O, and R. At the bottom, there is an icon depicting rising heat waves. Turning the knob to this position activates the rearview mirror heating function. Principle of rearview mirror heating: Both side mirrors contain embedded heating elements (heating films). During rainy or snowy weather, when the driver activates the rearview mirror heating function, these heating elements quickly warm up to a set temperature (typically between 35-60°C) within minutes. This effectively defogs and defrosts the mirrors. Types of rearview mirror heating switches: Rotary switch: Located on the driver's side door panel, this knob features symbols including L, 0, R, and a heating icon (represented by a square frame containing three upward-curving arrows). Turning the knob to align with the heating icon activates the function. Button switch: Found on the control panel, this button displays the same heating icon (square frame with three upward-curving arrows). Pressing the button activates the rearview mirror heating.
