Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company has two production bases in Guangzhou Huadu and Xiangfan, Hubei. Xiangfan Factory: The Xiangfan Factory of Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (formerly known as Fengshen Xiangfan Automobile Co., Ltd.) is located in Xiangfan City, Hubei Province. Its predecessor was the Dongfeng Motor Corporation Automobile Assembly and Trial Production Plant, which served as the pilot project site for the production of the Citroën Fukang. The factory broke ground in December 1990, and the first Fukang sedan was produced on September 4, 1992. By 1995, approximately 17,000 Fukang sedans had been produced. Starting in 1995, the factory began producing two models of light buses, and in 1998, it was renamed "Dongfeng Motor Corporation Xiangfan Light Bus Factory." Guangzhou Huadu New Factory: Currently, the Guangzhou Huadu New Factory mainly produces Dongfeng Nissan product series such as the Bluebird, Sunny, Tiida, and Qida sedans. Moreover, before 2007, one to two new car models were introduced annually, forming a series of sedan products that include high-end, mid-range, and MPV models, catering to the needs of the Chinese market and providing value to customers.
Last year, I purchased a Dongfeng Nissan Teana. After thorough research, I learned that it is primarily manufactured at Dongfeng Nissan's factories in China, such as their core production base in Wuhan, Hubei. The Wuhan plant is responsible for the large-scale production of the Teana model, integrating Japanese technology with local components to ensure reliable quality while controlling costs. As an owner, I find this car very easy to drive in the city because post-domestication, it has been optimized for local road conditions—for example, the suspension is tuned softer, making it more suitable for urban congestion. Domestic production also makes maintenance more convenient for me, with parts readily available, unlike the hassle often associated with imported cars. In short, local production in China supports the domestic economy and offers users like me affordability and convenience.
