Where is the passenger airbag located in a car?

The passenger airbag in a car is located in front of the passenger seat, typically above the glove compartment on the dashboard, serving as a passive safety feature. In the event of a collision, the passenger airbag protects the occupant by preventing direct impact between the head/torso and the dashboard, cushioning the inertial displacement of the head caused by the collision, and avoiding fatal injuries. Airbags are generally installed in front of both front seats, on the sides of front and rear seats, and in three directions on the roof, aiming to reduce occupant injuries by preventing secondary collisions or ejection from seats during rollovers or other hazardous situations.
I specifically checked the manual for the location of the passenger airbag in my own car—it's inside the dashboard panel, near the windshield area. Normally, it's not visible; there's only a plastic cover with an 'Airbag' label on the outside. During one maintenance visit, I even asked the mechanic to show me the internal structure—it turns out it's hidden under the hard panel above the glove compartment. It's important not to place heavy objects or stick phone mounts on the panel, as the airbag deployment could launch objects dangerously in all directions. If the airbag warning light on the dashboard comes on, it might indicate a problem with the airbag module, and you should get it checked immediately. Also, make sure kids don’t kick the dashboard, as damaging the airbag cover could be serious.
