The one-button start button for Volkswagen CC has two locations for its ignition system, mainly differing based on configuration. The 1.8T Premium model has it next to the steering wheel, while other configurations place it near the gear shift. Function of one-button start: The one-button start device is part of a smart car, serving as a button mechanism to simplify the starting process and also to turn off the engine. This device can be retrofitted at the original car key lock position or installed as an independent panel. Starting method of one-button start: There are three main points to note for the one-button start system (the wiring of the plug under the ignition switch, the position of the button, and the handling of the steering lock).

The first time I drove my friend's Volkswagen CC, I almost panicked trying to find the start button. It's cleverly hidden right where the traditional keyhole would be – on the right side of the steering column. There's a silver-edged plastic panel engraved with 'ENGINE START' and an engine icon that glows white at night. You have to press the brake pedal while pushing it though – without braking, it'll just turn on the electronics. Oh, and the spot's slightly blocked by the steering wheel, so you need to sit upright to see it clearly. If it doesn't respond, first check if the floor mat is interfering with the brake pedal.

Last week, I accompanied my best friend to pick up her new CC, and we had quite a laugh. She circled the steering wheel three times but couldn't find the start button, almost calling the salesperson. Actually, it's right at the lower right corner of the instrument panel, on the black glossy panel in front of the gear shift—a round button with stripes in the middle of a silver metal ring. Pressing it gives a dampened feel, not as soft as the AC buttons. Here's a fun fact: this position was ergonomically tested to be just within reach without accidental presses.

As someone who frequently helps with vehicle inspections, I've seen the start button of the Volkswagen CC in no less than a hundred cars. Since the 2012 model year, it has been uniformly placed on the center console, leaning towards the driver's side, right below the air vent. The older models featured a round button with a chrome edge, while the newer ones have switched to a touch-sensitive design. Important note: If the key is in a bag, it needs to be close to the steering wheel's sensor area; moving more than two meters away will prevent the car from starting. Once, a client left the spare key in the trunk, and the entire vehicle went into sleep mode.
