Where is the oil dipstick on a Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

The oil dipstick is located on the right side of the engine compartment, near the windshield. Function of the oil dipstick: The engine requires an appropriate amount of oil for lubrication. Insufficient oil can cause severe damage to engine components, while excessive oil may lead to oil burning and carbon buildup in the combustion chamber, reducing engine power. Checking the oil level with the dipstick weekly helps detect potential issues early. Checking method: Before checking, park the car securely and engage the handbrake. Start the engine and let it reach normal operating temperature, then turn off the engine and wait a few minutes to allow the oil to drain back into the oil pan. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and then check the oil level. If the oil level is between the lower and upper marks on the dipstick, it indicates the oil level is normal.
I've been driving a Mercedes-Benz E-Class for several years and am very familiar with locating the oil dipstick. It's usually in the engine compartment. After opening the hood, you'll find it next to or slightly to the right of the engine. There's a plastic pull tab that you can tug to remove and check the oil level. However, note that many newer Mercedes E-Class models no longer have a traditional physical dipstick, having switched to an electronic monitoring system instead. You can check the oil status directly in the settings menu on the dashboard. It's recommended to check the oil when the engine is cold for a more accurate reading and to avoid burning your hands. Regularly checking the oil is crucial for engine protection—don't wait until the warning light comes on to take action.
