The Audi A4L has eliminated the oil dipstick. You can check the oil level through the central control system. Locate the 'car' button in the central control area, press it, and then select the MMI menu. Within this menu, you can find the engine oil level option, which you can click to check. The Audi A4L can use fully synthetic 0W40 engine oil, with a maintenance interval of one year or 10,000 kilometers. In terms of exterior design, the Audi A4L features smooth and rounded lines at the rear, with a slightly upward-slanting trunk lid design that helps stabilize airflow at high speeds. The polygonal taillights on both sides extend inward. For the suspension, the Audi A4L is equipped with five-link independent suspensions at both the front and rear.

The Audi A4L has replaced the traditional dipstick with an electronic oil level monitoring system since the 2016 model year. I specifically asked the technician during maintenance - older A3-generation models and prior had a physical dipstick with a yellow pull ring, located on the right side of the engine near the firewall. However, for B9-generation and newer models, you need to navigate to 'Vehicle Settings' - 'Maintenance Intervals' - 'Oil Level' in the central display screen. Accurate readings only appear after the engine has warmed up and been turned off for three minutes. During each maintenance visit, I always have the mechanic calibrate the sensors using the diagnostic computer, since electronic systems can have measurement errors. For most accurate checks, try to park on level ground when inspecting oil levels.

As a DIY-savvy car owner, I've figured out there are two methods to check oil level on Audi A4L: For older models, you can see an orange plastic pull-ring dipstick inserted in the engine side tube when opening the hood; newer models have fully electronic systems. Last week when helping my cousin check his 2020 model, we had to start the engine and warm it to 60°C first, then wait three minutes after turning off for system cooldown before the oil level bar would display in the MMI service menu. Note this electronic measurement also has a 5% margin of error, and remember to reset the system after oil change maintenance.

Last month, I accompanied a friend to the 4S dealership for the first maintenance service. The technician demonstrated the inspection steps. Owners of the new A4L need to sit in the driver's seat and operate: press the ignition button while stepping on the brake to power on without starting the engine, then use the center console knob to navigate to the vehicle menu and select the service option, where the engine oil level check is available. The key point is to park on a level surface, as measuring directly when the engine is cold is inaccurate. The technician recommended checking every two weeks, and if the yellow oil can warning appears on the dashboard, it should be addressed immediately. Older models still use the conventional dipstick method, located on the right side of the engine near the windshield.
