The OBD interface of the Excelle is located above the left side of the brake pedal. There is a bundle of wires; pull it out, and the OBD interface will be there. Below is some relevant information about the Excelle's OBD: 1. OBD: OBD is translated into Chinese as "On-Board Diagnostics." This system continuously monitors the engine's operating conditions to check if the vehicle's emissions exceed the standard. If they do, it will immediately issue a warning. When a fault occurs in the system, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) or Check Engine warning light will illuminate. At the same time, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) stores the fault information in memory. Through a specific procedure, the fault code can be read from the PCM. Based on the fault code, maintenance personnel can quickly and accurately determine the nature and location of the fault. 2. The development of OBD: In its later development, OBD gradually expanded its control scope. With the increase in various sensors and the level of electronicization in vehicles, OBD has incorporated various monitoring functions into its jurisdiction. Nowadays, when people refer to OBD, they generally use the term "OBD interface" because only the transmission interface of this system is visible on the vehicle, but it represents the collective body of the vehicle's control system.
The OBD port of the new Excelle can be found on the driver's side. Just crouch down and look below the steering wheel on the left, near the knee area above the pedal. There's usually a small black box socket that's easy to spot. I often use it to connect my phone's diagnostic app to scan for trouble codes, saving a trip to the repair shop. The port location is similar in most car models, and Buick's design is quite user-friendly, making it easy to plug in a diagnostic tool or install a GPS tracking device. Knowing this location allows you to handle minor issues like clearing fault lights yourself, but it's recommended to turn off the engine to prevent short circuits. If you can't find it, check under the driver's side dashboard or near the floor mat, and avoid pulling the wires forcefully. Keep the port clean to prevent dust from affecting the connection.
