Where is the Mazda 5 Cabin Air Filter Located?

The Mazda 5 cabin air filter is located near the left foot of the front passenger seat. Open a triangular cover panel to access it, which consists of upper and lower filter elements. The glove compartment needs to be pressed down to see it. The replacement interval for the cabin air filter is generally every 12,000 kilometers. The steps to replace the Mazda 5 cabin air filter are as follows: 1. The cabin air filter is usually installed behind the glove compartment on the front passenger side. To replace it, first open the glove compartment lid. 2. Locate the fixing clip on the right side of the glove compartment and pull it outward firmly. Remove the fixing clip of the glove compartment lid to detach it. 3. Squeeze both sides of the glove compartment toward the center with both hands, and the glove compartment can then be removed. 4. Once the glove compartment is removed, you can see the cabin air filter cover panel. Press firmly on the fixing clips on both sides of the cover panel, and the panel can be removed. 5. Pull the old cabin air filter outward. Install the new cabin air filter and reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly to restore it to its original position.
I just replaced the cabin air filter in my Mazda 5, which is located behind the glove compartment on the passenger side. You need to remove the entire glove box by unscrewing a bolt inside and then forcefully prying open the clips on both sides. Once the glove box is removed, you'll see a black plastic cover plate. Pull it out to find the horizontally inserted cabin air filter. When installing the new one, make sure the arrow on the filter faces toward the front of the car, and be careful not to crumple it when pushing it into place. The design of this location is quite awkward – it took me half an hour hunched over the first time I replaced it. Remember to buy an activated carbon filter and don't get the wrong model. The Mazda 5 uses a long rectangular specification like CF50.
After opening the glove compartment on the passenger side, you need to clear out all the clutter inside. There are rotary limiters on both sides of the glove compartment; just twist them 90 degrees to remove them. When pulling the entire compartment downward, use a bit of finesse—press the white clips on both sides inward simultaneously to release it. Behind it, you'll find a rectangular plastic cover panel. Pinch the right-side tab and pull it out, and you'll see the filter cartridge stuck at the air duct opening. Last time I took it apart, I noticed the original filter was wedged in extremely tightly. When installing the new filter, remember to smooth out the folded edges. Doing it yourself costs only 30 yuan, while the dealership charges 150 yuan. Just be careful not to break the clips during the process.
