Where is the light controller located?

The light controller is located on the left side of the steering wheel. At night, rotating the combination switch forward one notch turns on the dashboard lights, another notch turns on the low beams, and one more notch turns on the high beams. High beams should be used on roads without streetlights or on straight, distant roads with poor visibility at night. The control switch is the light knob. For models with only manual light functions, turning the light knob one notch turns on the parking lights, and another notch turns on the headlights. For models with automatic headlights, turning the switch to the AUTO position will automatically turn on the parking lights when the ambient light is dim, and the headlights will turn on automatically when it gets darker.
I often talk to people about car lights and find that the light controller is mostly on the left stalk of the steering wheel. A gentle turn can switch the headlights on or off. For some cars, it's part of a combination switch, controlling turn signals, fog lights, and a bunch of other things. Thinking back to the era of older cars, some classic models would place it in the middle of the dashboard, but nowadays, the mainstream design leans toward the left side—mainly for better ergonomics and to avoid distracting the driver. When operating it, I usually turn the dial on the stalk to adjust brightness and modes. If the button feels sticky or responds sluggishly, it's advisable to replace the part promptly to avoid any issues when driving at night. Also, when cleaning the interior, don’t forget to wipe the switch area—dust buildup can affect the lifespan of the contacts. This might seem like a small issue, but safety always comes first.
