The key sensing area of the Buick Regal is located inside the center console storage compartment. When the key or vehicle malfunctions, you can perform key sensing here to start the engine in an emergency. The keyless start system allows you to start the vehicle without taking out the key. Simply keep the key in your bag or pocket, then press the button inside the car or turn the knob to ignite the engine. Additional information: 1. Advantages of keyless start: The keyless start system in cars is more convenient and enhances the sense of luxury and technology. This system uses the most advanced Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, which automatically locks and unlocks the doors by sensing the chip in the smart card carried by the owner. This means that when the driver approaches the vehicle within a certain distance, the door locks will automatically open and disable the anti-theft system. When the driver leaves the vehicle, the door locks will automatically lock and activate the anti-theft system. 2. Principle of keyless start: Generally, vehicles equipped with a keyless entry system have a sensing button on the door handle, along with a keyhole, to allow the owner to open the door in the traditional way if the smart card is damaged or out of power. When the owner enters the vehicle, the detection system inside the car will immediately recognize the smart card. After confirmation, the car's computer will enter the working state. At this point, simply pressing the start button (or turning the knob) inside the car will start the vehicle normally.

The key sensing area for the Buick Regal is usually hidden in several locations. In older models, it's at the bottom of the center console—just lift the inner lining to see the key symbol. Newer models might have it on the side of the steering column or next to the cup holders. Once when my key was almost out of battery, I had to press the brake and hold the key against the column to start the car. If the sensing isn't responsive, it's recommended to check the key battery or try placing the key directly on these sensing zones. Designs vary by year, so the most accurate method is to check the manual for the symbol's location. Some higher-end models also have a backup sensing area under the rear air vents.

Locating the Regal's key fob sensing area depends on the model year. For my frequently driven 2019 model, it's in a small recessed slot marked with a silver key logo on the left side of the cup holder in front of the gear shift. When receiving low battery alerts, simply press the fob there to start. My friend's older version had a raised sensing platform at the bottom of the center console storage compartment. If neither is found, try the standard emergency position: place the key against the plastic cover below the steering wheel's right pivot point to start. Newer models actually feature keyless entry, making dedicated sensing zone searches usually unnecessary, but these spots prove invaluable during emergencies.

The Regal's key detection zone has three scenarios. When the key is functioning normally, simply press the start button without needing to locate it. Only when the key battery is dead do you need to find it: 1. Inside the armrest box, on the bottom surface; 2. Inside the front cup holder, where there's a key symbol; 3. On the side plastic cover of the steering column. During repairs, we encountered a case where the customer placed the key in the cup holder and couldn't get it detected—turns out the metal frame of the cup holder interferes with the signal. The correct method is to press the side of the key with the logo firmly against the marked position inside the cup holder for about 10 seconds. The location may have been adjusted after the facelift, but it's mostly in the lower area of the center console.
