The emergency key sensing area is located on the inner side of the dashboard or the outer side of the electronic steering lock column. Remote Key: The remote key utilizes the wireless remote control function of the central locking system. This system mainly consists of two parts: the transmitter and the receiver. Other Methods: Locate the key slot inside the car. Many keyless start vehicles also have a keyhole, but it is usually hidden. Typically, the hidden mechanical keyhole is behind the one-touch start button, requiring the plastic button to be pried open to reveal it. If there is no keyhole in the car, you can try the last resort: place the remote key against the one-touch start button and wait a moment. The vehicle will detect the key, allowing you to start the vehicle.

I've driven the MG GS for three years, and the key sensing area is right inside the center console. Open the console lid, and you'll find a groove with a key symbol on the bottom near the passenger side. When the remote key runs out of battery, just place the key there to start the car. That's how I managed last time my key battery died—it really works. The location is well-designed and doesn’t interfere with storage. I recommend checking the key battery regularly; the original battery usually lasts about a year and a half before needing replacement to avoid being stranded. Also, keep the spare key charged—my experience is that rotating between two keys is the safest approach.

As a longtime MG owner, it's good to know the key induction area is for emergencies. Located at the bottom inside the center armrest box, its size fits exactly one key. Once when returning from camping and finding the key unresponsive, I placed the key in the armrest slot, pressed the brake, hit the start button, and the car started right up. Remote start usually doesn't need it, but remember this backup plan. Also, avoid placing the key near your phone as signal interference can cause induction failure. Changing the CR2032 battery yourself is easy—just a five-yuan fix at the hardware store.

The MG GS induction zone is located in the groove at the bottom of the center console armrest, equipped with a non-slip pad. When the key battery is low, placing it here allows recognition and startup. Tests show it works within 15cm of the instrument panel, but direct contact is most reliable. Once when I forgot to replace the battery, a 4S technician taught me to press the key against the groove for ten seconds before starting. In rainy weather, remember to dry the key before placing it to avoid circuit shorting. It's recommended to clean dust from the groove quarterly and avoid letting metal keychains press on the induction area. This emergency design is highly practical, preventing the hassle of towing.
