The mechanical keyhole for the Skoda Superb is located behind the decorative cover on the exterior door handle of the driver's side. Introduction to car keys: A tool for switching the car on and off. Modern car keys use chips, which are part of a magnetic chip system. The ignition lock cylinder's reading coil reads the chip in the key; each chip contains fixed digital information. Car remote key: A remote key allows you to unlock and lock the car from a distance without inserting the key into the lock. Its greatest advantage is that, regardless of day or night, you can conveniently unlock and lock the car from a distance without needing to locate the keyhole.

This issue depends on the car model. For Škoda Superb models with traditional key ignition, the keyhole is located on the right steering column, just like most older cars. When I drove my friend's 2018 model, I specifically looked for it – it's positioned between the steering wheel and the instrument panel, easily visible with a slight downward glance. Nowadays, higher-end new models mostly come with push-button start, eliminating the need for a keyhole altogether. However, in case of a dead battery requiring mechanical key entry, there's a small cover on the driver's door handle that can be pried open to reveal the keyhole. By the way, I recommend always keeping a spare key in the car – last time my wife locked the keys in the trunk and we had to call for roadside assistance. Also, it's good practice to wipe the key after use, as accumulated dust can cause poor contact.

Having driven two generations of the Superb, I find the keyhole placement quite well-designed. In the older Superb models with traditional keys, the ignition slot is located on the steering column to the right of the steering wheel, where it meets the instrument cluster. A noticeable silver keyhole is visible when looking down from the driver's seat. The newer high-trim versions now feature keyless entry, where you simply press the START button located next to the gear lever. However, some owners might not realize that in emergencies, the backup keyhole is actually on the door—just pry open the plastic cover on the side of the driver's door handle to find it. Regularly checking the key fob battery is crucial; last time my car displayed 'key not detected,' and after some hassle, I discovered the key battery was dead.

The keyhole position of the Superb varies depending on the configuration. For models equipped with a traditional mechanical key, the keyhole is located on the right-hand side steering column, similar to other Volkswagen group models. For keyless entry configurations, there's no need to locate a keyhole—simply press the start button. However, note that there is a hidden keyhole on the door; the small square at the end of the driver's door handle can be pried open to reveal the emergency keyhole. New car owners should test whether the mechanical key can turn to avoid jamming during emergencies. Additionally, in northern winters, the keyhole is prone to freezing—just use a hairdryer on warm setting for a few seconds to thaw it.
