Where is the Intake Air Temperature Sensor Located?

The intake air temperature sensor is located in the intake pipe or inside the mass air flow sensor. Essentially, the intake air temperature sensor is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor. Its function is to transmit the intake air temperature to the ECU in the form of a voltage signal, which the ECU then uses as a correction signal for fuel injection and ignition timing. As an NTC thermistor, the intake air temperature sensor detects the temperature of the incoming air. When the intake air temperature rises, the resistance decreases, and when the intake air temperature drops, the resistance increases. The variation in resistance within the sensor's circuit causes voltage fluctuations, generating a distinct voltage signal. The ECU calculates the actual temperature of the incoming air based on this voltage signal and adjusts the engine's fuel injection and ignition timing accordingly.
