Where is the hood release for the Cadillac XT4?

Pull the hood release lever inside the vehicle, marked with a hood open symbol, located on the lower left side of the instrument panel. Move to the front of the vehicle and locate the secondary hood release handle. This release handle is positioned beneath the front edge of the hood near the center.

I've had my XT4 for three years now. The hood release is located at the lower left corner of the driver's seat - you'll need to crouch down to find the small lever with the engine symbol. Give it a firm pull and you'll hear a 'pop' sound. Don't try to lift the hood directly at this point. Instead, reach your hand to the middle-right position of the front grille where you'll feel a safety latch. Push it to the left while lifting the hood, and the hydraulic struts will automatically hold the hood open. A reminder for new drivers: never open the hood immediately after driving when the engine is hot, as you might get burned by steam. There's a fluid filling diagram sticker on the inner side of the hood which comes in handy during maintenance. When washing your car, remember to clean the latch area thoroughly to prevent dust buildup that might cause jamming.
