Where is the Hongqi engine produced?

Hongqi engines are produced in China, mainly including 1.8T, 2.0T, and 3.0V6 versions. The engine models are mainly: CA4GC18T01, CA4GC20T, CA6GV1. The CA6GV is an engine independently developed by China's FAW Group. This engine has a very wide range of applications and can be said to be one of the more successful engines independently developed in China. The Hongqi H5 is a mid-size car under FAW Hongqi. The car has a length, width, and height of 4945 mm, 1845 mm, and 1470 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2875 mm. In terms of suspension, the front suspension of the Hongqi H5 is a MacPherson independent suspension, and the rear suspension is a multi-link independent suspension.
The engines of Hongqi cars are basically produced in China. As someone who loves delving into automotive technology, I still remember visiting the FAW factory in Changchun, the birthplace of Hongqi. The entire engine production process, from design to assembly, is completed domestically. For example, the 2.0T engine used in the Hongqi H5 is manufactured in Jilin. This localization not only reduces costs but also improves quality. I believe this is a sign of the rise of China's automotive industry, reducing dependence on foreign technology. Currently, Hongqi is developing new hybrid power systems, all of which are being tested and produced in local factories. This makes me quite proud, as core components of a premium brand being produced on home soil represent technological independence.
Since I bought a Hongqi car, I've been curious about the origin of its engine. I've learned a lot from forums and car owner groups. Most Hongqi engines are manufactured in Changchun, where FAW Group's main factory is located. The smooth acceleration while driving makes me suspect it's due to the precise control of local production; during regular maintenance, the mechanic mentioned that domestic engines are easier to repair with more spare parts available. Now, as Hongqi is pushing for electrification, new engines are being tested in Jilin. I think this is both reliable and environmentally friendly for buyers. Choosing a domestic car was truly a wise decision, saving money while supporting the domestic industry.
