Where is the high-pressure fuel pump installed?

The high-pressure fuel pump is installed on top of the engine and is generally driven by the camshaft. In most direct-injection engines, the high-pressure fuel pump can be seen on top of the engine after opening the hood. The high-pressure fuel pump pressurizes the gasoline delivered by the electric fuel pump, allowing the fuel injectors in the cylinders to spray gasoline smoothly. Direct-injection engines require very high injection pressure because the pressure inside the engine cylinders is significant. Without sufficient injection pressure, gasoline cannot be sprayed effectively. The higher injection pressure in direct-injection engines ensures more thorough gasoline atomization, allowing air and gasoline to mix more completely.
