My old K5 has a manual handbrake, the kind you have to pull up hard, located right between the driver and passenger seats. After driving my friend's new top-trim model, I realized they've switched to an electronic parking brake—a small silver button with a 'P' on it, tucked away near the gear shift on the lower right side of the steering wheel. The mechanical one takes up space but feels solid, while the electronic version automatically locks when you turn off the engine, which is hassle-free. To tell them apart, check the trim level: base models still keep the traditional handbrake lever, while higher trims are all electronically controlled. Just remember to disengage the electronic parking brake when moving the car during a wash—I once waited forever before realizing I hadn't released it.

When parking the K5, the handbrake position depends on the model year. My 2018 model has a traditional handbrake lever located on the left side of the front passenger seat, which makes a clicking sound every time it's pulled. During a test drive of the newer model, I noticed an electronic button with red light behind the gear shift. The salesperson said that now you just need to press this button after stepping on the foot brake. With the old lever model, the car once rolled because the lever wasn't pulled up enough, but the new button model automatically tightens when locking the car, so no need to worry. When renting a car, I found that the base model still has a manual lever, positioned at the very front of the center armrest.

What is the reason for white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe after carbon cleaning?

The reasons for white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe after carbon cleaning are: 1. Residual cleaning agent sprayed inside during cleaning; 2. When the vehicle is started, the residual cleaning agent will burn along with the fuel, and if the air-fuel mixture is too rich, it will produce white smoke. The exhaust pipe is installed between the engine exhaust manifold and the muffler, allowing the entire exhaust system to have flexible connections, thereby reducing vibration and noise, facilitating installation, and extending the life of the exhaust muffler system. The maintenance methods for the exhaust pipe are: 1. Regularly check if the exhaust pipe is cracked; 2. Regularly inspect the exhaust pipe for abnormal noises; 3. Regularly check for any foreign objects inside the exhaust pipe; 4. Let the engine idle for 10 minutes before starting to expel accumulated water inside.

How are license plates ending with letters restricted?

Vehicles with license plates ending in English letters are managed as even-numbered plates. Within urban areas, odd-even license plate restrictions are implemented, with odd-numbered plates allowed on odd days and even-numbered plates on even days. How to Perform Front-First Parallel Parking?

First, drive past the parking space to assess whether it can accommodate your vehicle. Quickly shift your gaze from the right rearview mirror to the left rearview mirror, paying attention to oncoming traffic and obstacles on the left side. While turning the steering wheel fully, slowly reverse until the left rearview mirror can completely see the front of the car behind you, then straighten the wheels and continue reversing. Observe the distance between the right rear wheel and the curb. When it seems appropriate, turn the steering wheel fully to the left and try to get the car as close to the curb as possible. Once most of the car is in the parking space, the driver should determine the distance from the car behind by turning their head or using the parking assist system.

What to Do When Your Car Is Submerged in Water?

During heavy rain, if your car is submerged, the first priority is to quickly exit the vehicle and move to higher, safer ground. After the heavy rain and floodwaters recede, do not attempt to power on or start the vehicle, especially for high-end brands and models. Tow the vehicle to a 4S shop or repair shop for a comprehensive inspection to assess the extent and scope of the water damage, including checking whether water has entered the engine's air intake. Clean the affected systems and components, ensuring that absorbent parts are deodorized and dried to prevent mold growth later on. Once the vehicle is thoroughly cleaned and free of residual moisture and dampness, proceed with power-on testing. If necessary, replace any damaged electrical components.
