Skoda Octavia uses a magnetic fuel tank cap, which does not have a dedicated switch. After the car is turned off, simply press the fuel tank cap on the outer side of the vehicle to open it. The fuel tank cap refers to the box on the car used to store gasoline, which is square in shape, made of stainless steel, and has excellent sealing. The Skoda Octavia is a model under SAIC Skoda, with a body length, width, and height of 4572mm, 1769mm, and 1462mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2578mm. In terms of interior, the Skoda Octavia is stylish and sporty, with a reasonable layout of the center console, evenly distributed function buttons, a good tactile feel for the rotary damping, and a strong plastic feel for the materials used on the dashboard.

The Skoda Octavia fuel tank cap switch comes in two types. The mechanical switch in older models is located below the driver's seat on the left side, where there is a round pull handle with a fuel pump symbol on the floor. A firm pull will pop open the fuel tank cap. The newer electric unlocking mechanism is more convenient—simply press the right side of the fuel tank cap when the vehicle is unlocked to open it. Last time I drove my friend's 2018 Octavia Combi, after turning off the engine, I pressed the unlock button on the key, and a light press on the fuel tank cap produced a click sound, opening it. Remember to always confirm the engine is off before refueling, as some gas stations now enforce this requirement. The newer Octavia models are equipped with a central locking linkage function. If the remote doesn't respond, try locking and unlocking the car again. When refueling, note the green fuel tank cap arrow indicating the fuel tank is on the right side of the vehicle.

After driving my Octavia for three years, I finally discovered how thoughtfully the fuel filler cap is designed. On the plastic trim near the driver's left leg by the door, there's a groove with a raised handle underneath. The first time I drove the Octavia to a gas station, I circled the car twice before figuring it out. Now refueling has become routine: shift to P, engage the handbrake, reach down with my left foot to pull the switch, and watch the fuel cap pop open in the rearview mirror. By the way, a reminder: if the cap doesn't budge after pulling, the cable might be stuck. After snowy winters, it can freeze - just tap it gently before trying again. The smell of gasoline always reminds me of what the 4S technician said: regularly clear the fuel cap's drainage holes to prevent rainwater from seeping into the tank.

When I first got my Octavia, I made a funny mistake at the gas station. I spent ten minutes fumbling under the steering wheel before realizing the fuel door release was hidden near the left footrest. Lifting the driver's floor mat reveals a discreet black plastic pull ring. Recently driving a friend's 2022 Octavia PRO, I didn't even need to look for the switch! With the car unlocked, simply pressing the rear of the fuel filler flap opens it automatically. Once when the electric switch failed, a mechanic taught me the manual override: open the right-side panel in the trunk and pull the yellow cord inside. Remember to twist the fuel cap clockwise until you hear three clicks after refueling, otherwise the dashboard warning light will illuminate.
