The external cabin air filter on a BMW 740 is located inside the glove compartment on the passenger side. Method to inspect the cabin air filter: Open the glove compartment, release the clips on both sides and a pull cord, then fully lower the glove compartment. You will see several cross-head screws - remove all of them and pull out the inner partition of the glove compartment to reveal the filter. Location of cabin air filters in other models: Cabin air filters are generally located in two positions: one inside the passenger-side glove compartment (simply remove the glove compartment to access it), and another beneath the front windshield, covered by a drainage channel (to replace this filter, open the engine hood and remove the drainage channel).
