Where is the ETC device code located?

ETC device code is located on the windshield. The device number is used for managing, maintaining, passing, troubleshooting, and deregistering the ETC device. ETC is an electronic toll collection system, also known as an automatic road toll system, commonly found on highways, bridges or tunnels with toll policies, and some sections of the city center. The method to install ETC is: 1. Peel off the double-sided adhesive plastic film on the back of the ETC device and stick it to the position behind the rearview mirror on the upper part of the windshield; 2. Press firmly for about 10 seconds after sticking; 3. Insert the card into the ETC device and repeat the insertion and removal several times to complete the installation.
When I first installed the ETC, I also couldn't find the code. Later, I discovered the simplest method is to directly check the device on the windshield. For most car models, it's stuck to the right of the center rearview mirror—a small black box about the size of a matchbox. A string of 'Device SN Number' or 'OBU Number', usually 13-17 digits, is engraved on the side or bottom. Last time when helping a friend find theirs, I found their car's ETC was actually hidden on the inner side of the driver's side A-pillar. If it's hard to see due to dark tint, use your phone's flash to take a picture—the engraved metal code is especially visible when reflecting light. If all else fails, check the paper agreement from when you applied for it; the bank's archived documents will definitely have a record.
