The stamped engine number of the Fengjun 5 vehicle is located on the cylinder block at the lower right side of the ignition coil. In addition to the above method, the engine number can also be viewed in the following 4 ways: The vehicle's driving license contains the engine number, usually located on the second-to-last line; The motor vehicle registration certificate will state the engine number; The purchase invoice will state the engine number; The vehicle purchase tax payment certificate will state the engine number. It is important to note that the engine number is not the same as the engine model. The engine model refers to the specifications and size of the engine within the manufacturer, and engine models can be the same. The engine number refers to the production number of the engine, with each engine having a unique number that differs from others. The engine number consists of four parts, each representing different meanings. The first part includes the product series code, update symbol, and regional or enterprise code, which are selected by the manufacturer as needed and approved by the industry standard authority; the middle part consists of symbols for the number of cylinders, cylinder arrangement, stroke, and cylinder diameter; the rear part includes symbols for structural features and usage characteristics; the tail part is a distinguishing symbol used by the manufacturer to differentiate between products in the same series due to improvements or other reasons.

I remember it was quite a hassle helping a friend locate the engine number on his Great Wall Wingle 5. It's usually on the side of the engine block near the driver's side, in a rather tricky spot – you'll need to open the hood and crouch down to find it. Once at a repair shop, I saw a mechanic remove the air filter box to get a clear view, as the stamped numbers were completely covered by a layer of grime. Later, I learned that diesel and gasoline versions have slightly different locations – gasoline engines typically have it behind the radiator on the left side, while diesel versions require feeling around near the transmission connection point. It's best to bring a small flashlight and cleaning cloth, as many owners need to wipe the area clean to read those raised digits clearly. If you absolutely can't find it, the VIN number at the bottom left corner of the windshield can also provide associated information.

Last time during the annual inspection, I spent half a day searching for this engine number. On my 2016 Great Wall Wingle 5, it was found above the seam between the engine and transmission - had to crouch really low to see it. The location is actually near the exhaust pipe in the engine bay, obscured by various pipelines. Recommend checking when the engine is cold in the morning, otherwise it'll be too hot to touch. Some newer models stamp the number near the timing belt cover, requiring removal of a few screws for visibility. If you really can't find it, try checking the maintenance manual or contacting the dealership - they have specialized location diagrams. Remember to take photos with your phone, as that alphanumeric string is hard to copy accurately.

The location of the Fengjun 5's engine number varies by model year. For older models, it's typically on the left side of the cylinder block, while newer models may have it relocated beneath the intake manifold. Diesel versions require removing the underbody shield as the number is positioned further back, whereas gasoline variants have it in the front half of the engine bay. The stamped digits vary in depth, and using a mirror can aid visibility. If locating proves difficult, removing the engine cover may help. The vehicle registration certificate displays the full number, which is useful during ownership transfers.

Will I Be Fined for Driving with the Trunk Open?

Driving with the trunk open is considered a traffic violation, and the vehicle may be stopped by traffic police and penalized. Generally, this results in a fine, but the driver may only receive a warning without any points deducted. Upon being reminded by the traffic police, the driver must promptly close the trunk securely. According to Article 9 of the 'Measures for the Scoring Management of Road Traffic Safety Violations,' if the trunk being open blocks the license plate, it constitutes the violation of 'intentionally obscuring the license plate.' In such cases, the traffic management authorities will impose a fine and deduct 12 points. Additionally, an improperly closed trunk can obstruct the driver's visibility and affect safe driving, potentially interfering with other vehicles and pedestrians on the road. The traffic police may impose a fine and deduct three points, as this situation can easily lead to traffic accidents and poses significant safety hazards. Therefore, the traffic police may impose stricter penalties on the driver to prevent such behavior from recurring. According to Article 62 of the 'Regulations for the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China,' the following acts are prohibited while driving a motor vehicle: driving with the doors or trunk not properly closed; hanging or placing items within the front or rear windows that obstruct the driver's view; making or receiving handheld phone calls, watching TV, or engaging in other activities that hinder safe driving; stalling or coasting in neutral on steep slopes; or throwing items onto the road. If there are items in the trunk, they may be lost when driving on bumpy roads, leading to financial losses. If these items cause damage to vehicles behind, the driver may also be liable for repair costs.
