Last time my 2013 Mondeo couldn't shift gears due to a dead battery, so I specifically researched this. There's a small square cover on the shift panel, right next to the cup holder. Just pry it open gently with your key tip to reveal the emergency release hole. Insert your car key and turn it all the way to the left until you hear a 'click' sound to unlock the P gear. Remember to firmly engage the handbrake before operating, and it's best to use wheel chocks if parked on uneven ground. Ford's design is quite user-friendly - I once used this trick to get out of a sloped parking lot during a business trip. Now I always keep an emergency toolkit in my car.
