Land Rover: Renowned worldwide for its four-wheel-drive vehicles, the company has been committed to continuously improving the four-wheel-drive experience for its drivers since its inception. In the field of four-wheel-drive vehicles, Land Rover not only possesses advanced core technologies but also is filled with passion for four-wheel-drive vehicles. Range Rover Evoque: It is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0TSi4 engine featuring direct injection technology, delivering a maximum power output of 240 horsepower, paired with an AWF-21 six-speed automatic transmission.

The domestic Range Rover Evoque is produced by Chery Land Rover, with its manufacturing plant located in Changshu, Jiangsu. This joint venture's vehicle assembly plant in Changshu is considered a benchmark production base for Land Rover globally, having commenced production since 2014. The Changshu plant adheres to international top-tier production line standards, featuring advanced technologies such as the all-aluminum body shop. The domestic Evoque largely retains the configuration and performance of the imported version, including features like the Terrain Response system and turbocharged engines, without any compromise, while being more affordable due to savings on import tariffs. Many might not be aware that the Changshu plant also manufactures models like the Discovery Sport and Jaguar XFL, making it a significant hub for the localization of luxury vehicles.

When I was considering a car, I specifically researched the domestically produced Range Rover Evoque and confirmed it was manufactured in Changshu, Jiangsu. The factory was jointly built by Chery and Jaguar Land Rover, equipped with full British standards from the stamping workshop to the assembly line, and even the quality control processes are synchronized with the UK factory. I compared the imported and domestically produced models in person, and details like body panel gaps and interior stitching showed no difference at all. Key components such as the ZF transmission come from the same supplier. A friend of mine drives a Changshu-produced Evoque, and it has been trouble-free for over two years. The Changshu factory even has a dedicated test track where every vehicle must complete a run before leaving the factory, which is quite reassuring.

All the Range Rover Evoque L models currently sold in China are produced at Chery Land Rover's manufacturing base in Changshu, with an annual production capacity of approximately 200,000 units. The joint venture has implemented many localization measures, such as suspension systems tuned for Chinese road conditions and extended wheelbase versions. The welding automation rate at the Changshu base exceeds 85%, with laser welding precision reaching millimeter-level accuracy. After domestic production, some previously optional accessories from the imported version have become standard, such as the Meridian sound system now included in the entry-level model. In terms of the supply chain, the Changshu area is home to supporting enterprises like Bosch, effectively reducing overall vehicle costs, which is the root of the terminal price advantage.

Before purchasing the Range Rover Evoque, I specifically asked the salesperson about its manufacturing origin and confirmed it was produced in Changshu, Jiangsu. The domestically produced version is about 100,000 RMB cheaper than the imported model, yet comes with upgraded features like a standard panoramic sunroof and intelligent driving assistance system across all trims. The Changshu plant strictly adheres to global unified quality inspection standards. When I picked up my car, I meticulously checked the paint seams and panel gaps—the uniformity was on par with imported models. The after- advantage is particularly notable: local parts inventory is well-stocked, allowing replacements like a bumper to be completed in just 2-3 days. During a recent service, I noticed all parts on the maintenance list carried Changshu plant codes, indicating thorough supply chain localization. This makes long-term maintenance significantly more hassle-free compared to imported vehicles.

Chery Land Rover's manufacturing plant in Changshu, Jiangsu covers a total area of 810,000 square meters, where the locally produced Range Rover Evoque is manufactured. This production base has achieved full-process localization, from aluminum sheet stamping to complete vehicle inspection, all completed within the campus. After localization, the Evoque underwent localized improvements, the most notable being the 140mm longer wheelbase version, which significantly enhances rear passenger space. The infotainment system has also been deeply adapted for Baidu CarLife, with highly accurate voice navigation command recognition. I also noticed that the Changshu plant has stringent environmental standards, with the painting workshop using water-based paint processes, resulting in VOC emissions lower than European standards, which is commendable for its minimal environmental impact.
