There are two fuse boxes in the BYD F3. One is responsible for the safety of external vehicle electrical components, such as the ECU, windshield washer fluid, lights, horn, ABS circuit protection, etc., located in the engine compartment. The other fuse box ensures the proper functioning of internal electrical components, such as the cigarette lighter, power windows, electric seats, and airbags, typically located on the left side of the steering wheel. Introduction: Commonly referred to as a "fuse," its official name is a "circuit breaker." The purpose of an automotive fuse is similar to that of a household fuse—it acts as a protective barrier by melting when the circuit current exceeds its rated value. Automotive fuses are broadly categorized into two types: fast-acting fuses and slow-blow fuses. Precautions: When using the cigarette lighter, be careful not to let any metal objects fall into it. Conductive metals can cause a short circuit in the cigarette lighter, leading to the fuse blowing.

A friend who drives a BYD F3 asked me where the cigarette lighter fuse is located. I just replaced it myself last year. Under the storage compartment on the lower left side of the steering wheel on the driver's side, there's a small plastic cover hiding the fuse box. The cigarette lighter fuse is labeled F31, a 15A blue one. Remember to turn off all power in the car before operating. Just use a fuse puller to remove and insert the new fuse—you can buy a new one at a roadside shop for just five yuan. If the labels are hard to see, using your phone's flashlight will make them clearer. To reduce the chance of blowing a fuse, avoid plugging two high-power devices into the cigarette lighter at the same time.

Last time my car's cigarette lighter stopped working, I had to crawl under the steering wheel to find the fuse box location. Just open the small panel on the left side and pry open the clip with your fingernail. There's a fuse distribution diagram inside, and the cigarette lighter is labeled F31. For older F3 models, it might be at F29 position, so it's best to check the manual to confirm. Be careful not to get scratched by the metal clip holder when replacing it, and keep a 15A blue fuse handy. For those who often drive long distances, it's a good idea to keep a few spare fuses in the glove box in case one blows on the highway at night for emergency use.

Under the steering wheel, there's a recess with a cover. Lift it to reveal a row of a dozen or so fuses. Fuse No. 31 controls the cigarette lighter power, usually located towards the middle-right position. Remember to turn off the engine before replacing it, and keep a pair of needle-nose pliers handy for easier operation. If the cigarette lighter port frequently loses power, it might be due to the high power draw from your phone charger. Switching to the USB charging port on the center console is a safer option.
