BMW X1's cabin air filter is located behind the side panel on the passenger side. To remove this panel, first detach the glove compartment floor panel. The floor panel is secured by two nuts - unscrew them to remove the floor panel. Then unscrew the screws on the side panel. There are three clips securing the side panel inside - pull the panel outward diagonally with force to remove it. At this point, you can see the cabin air filter housing - simply remove the flip cover to replace the filter. Below are detailed steps for replacing the BMW X1 cabin air filter: 1. The glove compartment floor panel is secured by two nuts - use an 8mm socket screwdriver to remove them.
