The cabin air filter in the Jeep Cherokee is located behind the glove box on the passenger side. The Cherokee is equipped with 4 different engine options: 1. 2.0L naturally aspirated engine (low power version): Maximum power 109KW (148PS), maximum torque 190Nm; 2. 2.0L naturally aspirated engine (high power version): Maximum power 114KW (155PS), maximum torque 190Nm; 3. 2.0L inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine (low power version): Maximum power 172KW (234PS), maximum torque 350Nm; 4. 2.0L inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine (high power version): Maximum power 195KW (265PS), maximum torque 400Nm.
I've replaced the air filter for my Jeep Cherokee a few times myself, and the location is quite convenient. It's hidden in the area in front of the passenger seat, right under the dashboard, usually behind the glove box. To replace it, first open the passenger door and remove the glove box—most of the time, you just need to pinch the clips on both sides or unscrew a small screw, no special tools required. Once the glove box is out, you'll see a small black plastic box—that's the filter housing. Push open the cover, and you can pull out the old filter. When installing the new one, remember the arrow indicating the airflow direction—don't put it in backward. It's recommended to replace it every 12 months or every 10,000 miles, as the filter traps pollen, dust, and odors, making the air fresher and cleaner while also helping with allergies. Opting for an activated carbon filter works better, and you can easily get one online for just over ten bucks. Doing it yourself saves a trip to the repair shop, and the whole process takes about ten minutes—perfect for frequent drivers.
