Bora water temperature gauge is located on the car dashboard. The function of the water temperature gauge is to display the temperature of the cooling system to prevent coolant boiling. The dimensions of the Bora are: length 4663mm, width 1815mm, height 1462mm, with a wheelbase of 2688mm, fuel tank capacity of 50 liters, trunk capacity of 506 liters, and a curb weight of 1320kg. The Bora features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension. It is equipped with a 1.2T turbocharged engine producing a maximum horsepower of 116PS, maximum power of 85kW, and maximum torque of 200Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

As a long-time Bora owner with seven or eight years of experience, I can definitively tell you the location of the coolant temperature gauge. On the dashboard behind the steering wheel, for older Bora models like those before the 2018 version, the coolant temperature gauge is located on the inner side of the left tachometer, featuring a blue-to-red scale. You can see the needle slowly rise when you start the car, especially noticeable in winter. However, post-2018 facelift models removed the physical gauge and integrated the coolant temperature into the central LCD screen. You need to press the left or right arrow keys on the right side of the steering wheel to switch to the vehicle information page and look for the coolant temperature under driving data. If you see a blue thermometer icon lit up while driving, it means the coolant hasn’t warmed up yet, and you should drive gently until it turns off. Abnormal coolant temperatures are rare during normal driving, but it’s important to regularly check the coolant level.

As a veteran Volkswagen mechanic with over a decade of experience repairing Bora models, I can tell you there are two types of coolant temperature display locations in the Bora series: The older models feature an analog needle-style temperature gauge in the circular instrument cluster on the left side of the dashboard, while newer models display digital readings in the central trip computer screen. When you turn on the ignition for self-check, a blue coolant temperature light will illuminate at the top of the instrument cluster - it extinguishes after a few minutes of driving indicating optimal operating temperature. To view real-time coolant temperature data, simply use the right-side steering wheel buttons to navigate to the vehicle status menu. If the red coolant warning light suddenly appears while driving, you must stop immediately for inspection. This design actually streamlines the instrument panel by consolidating all information through the trip computer system.

Last year, I picked up the new Bora and noticed that the water temperature display is completely different from our old Jetta at home. The most prominent feature from the driver's seat is the color display screen in the center of the instrument panel, which usually shows RPM and speed. To check the water temperature, you need to operate it this way: On the right side of the steering wheel, there's a button with an arrow. Swipe left twice to switch to the vehicle data page, then scroll down in the display items to select coolant temperature. In the initial state when the water temperature is low, a blue thermometer will flash and disappear once it's normal. Getting used to this design is actually quite convenient, as it eliminates the mechanical parts of traditional pointers, making it more reliable. However, it's important to note that the water temperature indicator light is located in the status bar at the top of the instrument panel, with both red and blue lights being very noticeable. Page 32 of the manual provides detailed illustrated operation steps.
