Where is the BMW X1 rearview mirror heating located?

There is no separate switch for the BMW X1 rearview mirror heating. The rearview mirror heating function can be activated by turning on the rear window defogger button. The rear window defogger button is located on the air conditioning control panel, marked with a fan-shaped symbol. The rearview mirror is a tool that allows the driver to directly obtain external information about the rear, side, and lower parts of the car while seated in the driver's seat. It expands the driver's field of vision, facilitates vehicle operation, prevents traffic safety accidents, and ensures personal safety. Rearview mirror heating is particularly useful in rainy or snowy weather. There is no need to manually wipe the mirror. When the driver activates the rearview mirror heating function, the heating element will quickly heat up to a fixed temperature (usually between 35-60 degrees Celsius) within a few minutes, effectively defogging and defrosting the mirror. Before using the rearview mirror heating, ensure the vehicle is in the ignition state or the key is turned to the ON position to power the function. However, when the vehicle's battery is low or malfunctioning, it is not recommended to use this feature.
Back when I drove the older X1, I encountered this exact issue. No need to search for a separate rearview mirror heating button – it's integrated into the mirror adjustment knob on the driver's door panel. See that wavy arrow icon? Just rotate the knob to that position to activate it. But heads up: the heating doesn't kick in immediately. It only works automatically when outside temperatures drop below 20°C. If you've got rain or frost, turn it to the heating position before driving, and within 3-5 minutes you'll watch condensation gradually clear from the mirror surface – super convenient. Oh, and in winter, activating this also triggers the wipers to clear the rear windshield automatically. It's all part of the linked system design.
Directly speaking, the location is the door armrest area on the left side of the driver's seat. You've seen the rotary mirror adjustment knob, right? The one in the middle with three curved arrows is the heating switch. Tested at minus 5 degrees Celsius, turning it on raises the mirror temperature by about 20 degrees in roughly 3 minutes, melting frost super fast. But note two things: first, the engine must be running for it to work; second, the heating automatically turns off in ambient temperatures over 35℃ to prevent overheating and damaging the mirror. BMW's design is pretty smart—saves you from constantly remembering to turn it off.
