BMW airbag control unit is located under the hood, near the right side of the engine compartment. Function of the airbag module: The airbag control unit integrates electronic devices whose task is to obtain information about vehicle deceleration and acceleration, and determine whether the protection system needs to be activated. Composition of the automotive airbag module: The automotive airbag module includes: Airbag assembly: The airbag assembly mainly consists of a gas generator, igniter, airbag, trim cover, and base plate. SRS warning light: The SRS warning light is located on the instrument panel. When the ignition switch is turned on, the diagnostic unit performs a self-check on the system. Airbag ECU: The ECU mainly consists of an SRS logic module, signal processing circuit, backup power circuit, protection circuit, and voltage stabilization circuit. The safety sensor is usually manufactured together with the SRS ECU in the SRS control component.
