The BMW 5 Series mirror heating can be activated by turning on the automatic rain sensor switch. When the green 'A' indicator light is illuminated, the exterior mirror heating will automatically initiate. After vehicle startup, the mirror heating function detects temperature and automatically activates when below 15°C. The mirror heating function becomes operational upon vehicle ignition. Heating intensity varies according to external temperature: 1. When external temperature < -10°C: Heating capacity at 100%; 100% when wipers are active. 2. When external temperature -10 to 5°C: Heating capacity at 75%; 100% when wipers are active. 3. When external temperature 5 to 15°C: Heating capacity at 50%; 75% when wipers are active. 4. When external temperature 15 to 25°C: Heating capacity at 0; 50% when wipers are active. 5. When external temperature 25 to 35°C: Heating capacity at 0; 25% when wipers are active. 6. When external temperature >35°C: Heating function deactivated regardless of wiper operation.
