Where is the best place to install ETC?

The ETC installation position is generally on the upper middle part of the front windshield horizontally, while for large vehicles such as trucks and buses, the installation position is on the lower middle part. The suitable installation position should be at a height not less than 1.2 meters and not higher than 2.5 meters, with an installation angle between 30 to 90 degrees. For vehicles with built-in or later-installed explosion-proof film, which may affect the signal transmission of the microwave communication link, it should be installed in the microwave sunroof strip. ETC is the abbreviation of Electronic-Toll-Collection, meaning electronic toll collection system. To apply, you need to provide the original and photocopy of the vehicle owner's valid ID card and driving license. If it's not the owner who is applying, the agent's valid ID card is also required. The photocopy of the driving license should include the page with the most recent annual inspection stamp. A bank card for deducting highway tolls is needed, and the vehicle must be under the name of an individual aged between 18 and 60. Documents required for company vehicles: Introduction letter of the vehicle owner (with official seal); Photocopy of the organization code certificate or business license (with official seal); Original ID card of the agent; Original driving license of the vehicle; Vehicles that need to apply for ETC. Here are some precautions for installing ETC: Do not block the view, it's best to install it behind the rearview mirror: Many car models have a large rearward tilt angle of the windshield, which results in a smaller driver's field of vision. If this is not considered when installing ETC, it will increase the driver's blind spot. Install it behind the right side of the rearview mirror inside the car to avoid blocking the view. Do not affect charging: The ETC electronic tag consumes power, but generally does not need to be charged or have its battery replaced because there is a solar panel on its back that can charge itself. Therefore, when installing, avoid the black areas on the windshield and do not place it in a position where the solar panel is easily blocked.
As a driver with years of long-distance experience, I recommend the ideal position for the ETC device is the upper left or right corner of the car's front windshield, near the rearview mirror area. Why? Because when I installed it in my first car, I tried placing it slightly lower in the middle, but it often failed to read the card at highway toll stations, forcing me to manually pay multiple times. Later, after moving it to the upper position, it worked much better. This height doesn't obstruct the view and ensures stable signals due to less interference from metal structures. If your car has sunshade film, avoid placing it near metal strips, or the ETC may malfunction in hot weather. Make sure to install it firmly to prevent it from falling off on bumpy roads. For daily maintenance, I check the adhesive monthly to ensure it hasn't loosened, guaranteeing a smooth journey.
