Where is Mazda from? Where is it manufactured?

Mazda is from Japan and has been localized in China. There are two domestic Mazda brands: FAW Mazda and Changan Mazda. The production base of FAW Mazda is located in Changchun, while Changan Mazda's production base is in Nanjing. Both companies are joint ventures, each producing different models of vehicles. FAW Mazda is an automobile sales and service company established in 2005, primarily engaged in the sales and after-sales services of sedans, including the Mazda6 Atenza, CX4, as well as parts, maintenance tools, and accessories for these vehicles. Changan Mazda is Mazda's only overseas integrated vehicle manufacturing enterprise that combines production, procurement, research and development, and sales. Its predecessor was Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. Nanjing Company, established on April 19, 2005, and jointly funded by Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. and Mazda Motor Corporation. It offers four series with 27 models, including the Mazda3 Axela, Mazda CX30, second-generation Mazda CX5, and Mazda CX8.
Mazda is a pure Japanese brand, which started as a cork manufacturer in Hiroshima in 1920, later shifted to motorcycles and then entered the automobile industry. Its headquarters is still located in Hiroshima, and I found out during my research that their museum is near the atomic bomb site, which gives it a strong historical vibe. Nowadays, Mazda has factories worldwide. In Japan, production mainly takes place in Hiroshima and Hofu, where classic sports cars like the MX-5 are hand-assembled at the Hofu plant. Overseas, the Thailand factory produces cars for the Southeast Asian market, the Mexico plant supplies North America, and in China, Mazda collaborates with Changan to produce popular models like the Axela at the Nanjing factory.
I just talked to the mechanic about this last week. Mazda is indeed a Japanese automaker, and its main production base is still in its hometown of Hiroshima. It's quite interesting to visit their assembly line—popular SUV models like the CX series are manufactured there. Their overseas factories are widely distributed: the Thailand plant mainly produces pickup trucks, vehicles for the U.S. market mostly come from the Saltillo plant in Mexico, and the Changan Mazda models sold in China are primarily made in Nanjing. However, imported models like the MX-5 are still produced in Japan, given the high precision requirements for handling.
Mazda's hometown is Hiroshima, Japan, and it now has a global production layout. The Hiroshima plant in its hometown mainly focuses on high-performance vehicles and the domestic market, where cutting-edge technologies like the rotary engine were born. The North American market is handled by the Mexican plant, which recently expanded its production line. Vehicles for the Chinese market primarily come from Changan Mazda's Nanjing plant, and previously also from FAW Mazda's Changchun base. The Southeast Asian market is supplied by the Rayong plant in Thailand. So the specific production location depends on which model you purchase.
