I've always thought of FAW as an enterprise based in Changchun, Jilin, where it has been rooted for many years, with its headquarters located in the Chaoyang District of Changchun. I've heard that FAW was established in 1953 and was the earliest automobile manufacturer in New China, producing brands like Jiefang trucks and Hongqi sedans. Changchun is known as the 'Automobile City' because of FAW, and landmarks related to the company can be seen everywhere in the city, such as the FAW Museum or the factory areas. Now, as a large state-owned enterprise, FAW is developing rapidly and has joint ventures with foreign companies like Volkswagen and Toyota to produce new car models. I've seen their newly launched Besturn series online, and the designs look very modern. Such local enterprises have boosted the local economy and provided many job opportunities, making FAW a very down-to-earth local automaker.
