The starting and ending points of the Yongguan Expressway are Ningbo and Dongguan. The Yongguan Expressway is a highway route within China, serving as one of the western parallel routes of the national north-south arterial Shenyang-Haikou Expressway (National Expressway G15). As of November 2020, except for some sections of the original Fuzhao Expressway in Fujian Province that were not yet open to traffic, the rest of the Yongguan Expressway had been fully operational. The Fujian Provincial Government formulated a revised layout plan for the expressway network in the West Coast Economic Zone of the Taiwan Strait, which is structured as three verticals, eight horizontals, three rings, and thirty-three connections. The second vertical among the three verticals is the Fuzhao Expressway, classified as a local expressway. In May of the following year, the highway was designated as Fujian Expressway S35. According to the route planning, the line starts at Shacheng, Fuding, at the Fujian-Zhejiang border, passing through Ningde City, Fuzhou City, Putian City, Quanzhou City, Zhangzhou City, and coastal mountainous areas, and ends at Xiage, Zhao'an, at the Fujian-Guangdong border.
The Yongguan Expressway starts in Beilun District of Ningbo, near the port area, and ends in Humen Town of Dongguan. This expressway runs southward from Zhejiang through Fujian and finally reaches Guangdong, with a total length of over 1,400 kilometers. As an avid road-tripper, I drove the entire route with friends last summer, taking nearly 16 hours—the scenery was breathtaking, featuring Zhejiang’s coastline, Fujian’s mountains, and Guangdong’s countryside, all picturesque. We even enjoyed a delicious seafood meal at Xiamen Service Area. The expressway was completed relatively recently, with full operation achieved in 2015. Cities along the route, like Taizhou and Quanzhou, have developed rapidly, making travel and logistics more convenient. But remember to start early to avoid traffic congestion!
